TEHRAN – Russian Ambassador to Tehran Alexander Sadovnikov has said that Moscow supports popular movements in the Middle East and North Africa and condemns suppression of people.

“Russia was among the first governments which supported the popular movements in the region and called for an immediate end to the suppression of people,” Sadovnikov said in an interview with the Mehr News Agency on Tuesday.
For example, Russian officials have issued several statements and made many remarks in condemnation of the massacre of people in Libya, he said.
Russia also supported the adoption of a resolution against Muammar Gaddafi’s government in the UN Security Council.
He went on to say that the governments should listen to people’s voice and know that people can not be silenced through suppression and killing, Sadovnikov noted.
Elsewhere in his remarks, the Russian envoy asked the Iranian journalists to obtain information about the Russian officials’ stances from reliable Russian sources
